Editorial Policy

Ayuvaan is committed to providing accurate, safe, and evidence-informed health content for Indian families. This page explains how we create, review, and update our content.

Our Editorial Mission

Ayuvaan's mission is to help Indian families understand health numbers, lab reports, symptoms, and daily habits in simple, accurate language — without replacing doctors or making diagnoses.

Every piece of content on Ayuvaan is designed to educate, not to diagnose or prescribe. We follow the principles of:

  • Accuracy: Health information is based on established clinical guidelines and reputable sources.
  • Safety: Content always includes appropriate disclaimers, red flags, and "when to see a doctor" guidance.
  • Clarity: We write for non-medical Indian readers. Technical terms are explained in plain language.
  • Cultural relevance: We use Indian normal ranges, Indian dietary examples, and India-specific health statistics.
  • Non-diagnostic: We never tell users they have a specific disease. We use language like "may indicate," "often associated with," and "discuss with your doctor."

Sources We Use

Ayuvaan health content draws from the following types of sources:

  • Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) guidelines
  • Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) guidelines
  • World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines and fact sheets
  • Indian Diabetes Federation (IDF), Cardiological Society of India (CSI), and specialty body guidelines
  • Peer-reviewed journals including the Lancet, BMJ, and Indian medical journals
  • National Health Authority (NHA) guidance for digital health content

References will be listed on individual pages as content is medically reviewed. Pages with references placeholder notes are pending formal citation review before publication.

Medical Review Process

Ayuvaan is building toward a formal medical review process. Our current standards include:

  • All health content is written with reference to clinical guidelines from established bodies.
  • Content is reviewed internally for accuracy, safety language, and cultural appropriateness.
  • Pages where clinical review is pending are marked with a references placeholder.
  • We aim to have all clinical content reviewed by qualified Indian healthcare professionals before full publication.

For our full medical review standards, see the Medical Review Policy.

Content Update Policy

Health guidelines evolve. Ayuvaan commits to:

  • Updating content when major clinical guidelines change.
  • Reviewing high-traffic pages at least annually.
  • Marking last-reviewed dates on clinical pages once the review process is fully in place.
  • Addressing reader corrections and feedback promptly.

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not diagnose diseases or medical conditions.
  • We do not recommend specific medicines, doses, or treatment plans.
  • We do not use fear-based messaging to drive engagement.
  • We do not publish content from unapproved sponsors that conflicts with medical accuracy.
  • We do not accept sponsored content disguised as medical advice.

Safety-First Language Standards

Every health content page on Ayuvaan follows these language rules:

  • Use of "may," "often," "can be," and "is associated with" instead of absolute statements.
  • Always include "when to consult a doctor" guidance.
  • Always include emergency warning signs where clinically relevant.
  • Medical safety notice on every health content page.
  • No claim of diagnoses, cures, or guaranteed results.
